KEPS™ / Defensive protection. Handler control.
KEPS™ is the Kinetic Electro Protection System™: a handler-controlled, defensive electro-pulse layer for the working K9. Electric pulses at designated exterior contact areas are intended to deter grabs and holds, giving the K9 another layer of active protection. KEPS™ is included with every K1K9 vest and integrated into the EKP™ Helmet. It is designed for protection, not aggression or punishment.
On the vest, the system follows designated contact areas around the dog’s back and other vulnerable exterior zones. On the EKP™ Helmet, it is integrated into the helmet’s exterior. Contact deterrence is distinct from cushioning or armor: KEPS™ does not replace impact protection or prevent every strike.
K1K9’s vest design includes an internal protective shield between the K9 and the exterior KEPS™ contact areas. Placement around flexing and moving joints is intended to support normal sitting, lying down, resting and agile movement while preventing self-contact. Correct sizing, fit, clearance, inspection and the supplied operating instructions remain essential. These design features are not a guarantee against accidental shock.
The handler controls on/off operation through remote, Bluetooth or manual control, according to the selected configuration. Protective covers help shield the system’s exterior components. Follow the supplied instructions for controls, cover use and handling.

Product features
KEPS™, ballistic- and stab-resistant protective components, a buckle-based harness system and an integrated 6-foot lead are included. A custom 12-foot lead is available on request. The vest also incorporates universal light and camera mounts, stowable carrying features, marker lights integrated flotation and a GPS tracking system.
How it supports the professional
Bring forward the equipment needed for the selected task and stow unused handling features. Red identification highlights grab handles, carrying points and the integrated lead for recognition. The vest is designed to combine these functions without treating KEPS or the protective components as optional upgrades.
Included protection & KEPS
KEPS™ is standard on every K1K9 vest. K-MDAV also includes ballistic- and stab-resistant protective components. Integrated flotation and GPS tracking are included in the K-MDAV configuration described by K1K9. Protective ratings and coverage must be read from the final documentation for the supplied components.
Buckle system & tuck-away hardware
The buckle-based harness uses tuck-away handles and anchor points. K1K9 describes the low-profile arrangement as intended to reduce exposed hard points and impact concerns. It is not a guarantee against rib injury, crushing or other trauma.
Integrated lead & red identification
An integrated 6-foot lead is included, with a custom 12-foot lead available on request. Grab handles, carrying points and the integrated lead are identified in red. Unused handling features can be stowed within the vest.
Integrated carrying harness
Stowable shoulder harnesses are incorporated for carrying the dog on the handler’s back, with a quick-release feature for release once the dog is on the ground. Carrying limits, fit and release procedures must follow the final manufacturer instructions.
Light & camera mounts
Universal light and camera mounts are integrated into the platform. Compatibility with the selected devices and any required adapters must be confirmed. Mount inclusion does not mean a camera is included.
Marker lights & orientation
The integrated marker-light system provides red, green or blue indicators and strobe features intended to identify the K9 and indicate head direction. K1K9’s design objective is improved recognition and reduced misidentification risk; the lights do not guarantee prevention of friendly-fire incidents.
GPS & tracking connectivity
K1K9 specifies an integrated GPS tracking tag with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and satellite-tracking capability. The final tracking hardware, supported services, coverage, subscriptions and connectivity requirements must be confirmed for the supplied configuration. Continuous or worldwide tracking is not promised here.
