A striking number can begin a conversation. It should not end one. Before comparing results, ask what the device recorded, which units it used and what the result can legitimately support. A 2021 police-dog sleeve study reported jaw pressing-force measurements, while individual-tooth measurements exceeded the equipment's range and could not be reported. Hyytiäinen and colleagues, 2021

That example is useful because it separates a reported result from an unavailable one. It is research on that study's instrumented sleeve, not independent validation of KAIR™ or any other product. For SCAD™, our recommended record identifies the equipment, sensor configuration, measurement units, calibration status, relevant wear, operator and session context. If an important condition changes, record the change before interpreting the trend.

    Source context & limitations

Hyytiäinen and colleagues (2021) studied 20 Finnish police dogs in a modified long-attack task. The instrumented sleeve measured functional jaw force; tooth-level pressure exceeded the device range. Results are task- and equipment-specific, not a universal K9 rating or validation of KAIR™.
