“Where is the win?” is a question about purpose. Our view is that a compelling clip is not enough to explain what the canine learned or what the handler should do next.
A useful review looks beyond the most dramatic instant. It considers the agreed objective, participant readiness, control, recovery and the observations that support the conclusion. A session that identifies a limitation can still be valuable. Honest feedback gives the team something to work with. Applause, intensity and confident language should not take the place of that explanation.
Define the Win Before the Repetition
“Let the dog win” is incomplete unless the team can explain what winning means in that exercise. The manuscript challenges a training culture in which an endpoint can be familiar without being clearly defined.
For a bounded learning task, success may involve a specific observable response under stated conditions. For an operational review, the questions are broader: what lawful objective was achieved, what remained unresolved, and what happened to the dog and the people involved?
Those are different questions. A good score in one setting should not silently become proof of success in another.
Define success and stopping criteria before the repetition. Include what would require modification, termination or professional assessment. In the debrief, record outcomes that did not fit the plan instead of treating them as inconvenient exceptions.
The Bite Chain's contribution is to make continued contact something to examine, not automatically celebrate. A hold can be one part of an encounter while control and welfare remain unresolved.
A useful standard makes room for that distinction. The win should be explainable before it is claimed.

What a team means by a successful session, beyond a dramatic clip.
Evidence limits
Claims about learning or readiness would need defined outcomes and a documented assessment method.
